Client background and why Forma RF
The client came to the Toowong clinic after noticing a softening along her jawline over the previous twelve to eighteen months. She wanted a non-invasive option with no downtime, something she could fit around work. A series-based treatment suited her, where change would build over time rather than arrive in one hit. At consultation, her Registered Nurse assessed her in the mild-to-moderate laxity range and confirmed Forma RF was appropriate for her skin. More significant jowl descent was flagged as sitting outside the scope of this device and would be referred for a specialist opinion.
Forma is a bipolar radiofrequency treatment that delivers controlled warmth to the dermis, monitored and modulated in real time by the device’s A.C.E. temperature control. It is designed to stimulate collagen production over time, and skin firmness builds as new collagen matures across the following 3 to 6 months. Forma helps improve the appearance of mild laxity and is not a substitute for surgical intervention where indicated.
Protocol
Treatment was delivered across the lower face, jawline and submental area. Passes were warm enough to reach therapeutic dermal temperature while keeping the skin surface within the 40 to 42 degree Celsius therapeutic window. No topical anaesthetic was required. Each session ran approximately 30 to 45 minutes. The client returned to normal activities the same day with only transient pinkness.
Phase-by-phase journey
At Week 0, the treated zones showed the expected mild warmth and diffuse pinkness, which settled within a few hours. Through the first two sessions the client reported a subjectively firmer feel on palpation without any photographic change. This is typical at the early stage, as the thermal cue to fibroblasts precedes any measurable surface shift. By the mid-course point, early visible softening of the jawline shadow was noted at clinical review, and the client noted her skin felt more resilient under daily topicals. At the Week N frame after the final session in the initial course, comparison with baseline showed a more defined jawline contour, a reduction in the shadow along the lower-face margin, and a generally cleaner transition from cheek to neck. Collagen remodelling continues to build for 3 to 6 months following the final session, and the client was booked for a collagen-response review inside that window. Individual results vary.

Maintenance
Bipolar RF works best with ongoing maintenance. The client was advised that results from the initial course are typically held with maintenance sessions every 1 to 3 months, adjusted to her response at clinical review. Daily broad-spectrum SPF 50+, a well-tolerated topical routine, and adequate sleep and hydration were reinforced as the day-to-day basics that help new collagen settle well.
What this means for others
This describes one client in the mild-to-moderate laxity range with otherwise good baseline skin quality. It does not predict any other client’s response. Anyone considering Forma RF should plan for a series of sessions rather than a single event, accept that it takes 3 to 6 months to see full effect, and understand that it is not a substitute for surgical intervention where indicated. Suitability is determined at clinical consultation at Flourish Skin and Laser Clinic, Toowong.
