Jawline & Double Chin
You see it in photographs first. The jaw angle softens, the line breaks at the jowl, the area under the chin carries more fullness. Non-surgical options can help, within honest limits.

What We Can Help
Submental Fullness
The “double chin” area, whether familial or related to weight change.
Early Jowl Descent
When the jawline starts to break rather than run as one clean angle.
Skin Laxity & Definition Loss
A softer jaw angle as collagen, elastin and fat-pad support shift.

The Considered Approach to Lower-Face Firmness
No single device addresses everything in this zone. At Flourish Skin & Laser Clinic, our Registered Nurses assess whether your presentation is mostly skin laxity, mostly submental fat, or both, then sequence energy devices and biostimulation (HIFU, monopolar RF, bipolar RF, PDO MONO threads) designed to support firmness over time. Not a substitute for surgery.
Why Our Jawline Results Are Different
Honest Surgical Boundary
When the picture sits outside what non-surgical work can address, we say so and recommend a surgical conversation. No false equivalence.
Combination Protocols
A realistic plan layers a deeper annual treatment with maintenance in between. One device alone rarely covers skin, fat and definition.
Realistic Timelines
Expect 3 to 6 months to see full effect as new collagen forms. There is no instant lift; we set the timeline upfront.

FAQ
Is any of this a non-surgical facelift?
No. We do not describe these treatments that way. They are designed to stimulate collagen and support firmness in the lower face over time, and they are not a substitute for surgical intervention.
Will HIFU or RF get rid of my double chin?
It depends on whether your submental fullness is mostly skin, mostly fat, or both. Bipolar RF with vacuum assistance can contribute modestly to submental fullness alongside skin tightening, and the 6.0 mm HIFU cartridge targets submental tissue. Significant fat volumes typically need a different pathway discussed at consultation. Individual results vary.
How long before I see a difference?
Expect 3 to 6 months to see full effect. New collagen is laid down progressively from about two weeks post-treatment, with peak response around three months. Skin often feels firmer before it looks visibly different.
Which device will I have?
That depends on your skin, your goals and your closest location. Thermage FLX, Ultraformer MPT and MONO threads are at Sunnybank; Forma and Ultraformer 3 are at Toowong. Your clinician recommends the appropriate protocol at consultation.
How long do the results last?
Depending on modality, results typically last 12 to 24 months. HIFU sits around 12 to 18 months, monopolar RF around 12 to 24 months, bipolar RF tends to softer effects with more frequent maintenance, and MONO thread skin-quality effects 9 to 18 months. The jawline keeps changing with age, so treatment is planned as ongoing maintenance.
How do I know whether non-surgical treatment is right for me, or whether I should see a surgeon?
That is what your consultation is for. Mild-to-moderate presentations often respond well to energy and biostimulation. Pronounced jowl descent, heavy submental redundancy, or expectations at a surgical level are reasons we will recommend you speak with a surgeon.
Why does the jawline change in the first place?
Several shifts overlap. Collagen and elastin decline with age, deep cheek fat compartments shrink while superficial ones drift downward, the lower jawbone gradually loses volume, and chronic UV exposure (a real factor in Brisbane’s climate) accelerates the process. Submental fullness can be familial or related to weight change.
I have lost weight and noticed loose skin under my chin. Can you help?
Often, yes. Weight loss of 10kg or more frequently unmasks submental laxity that volume was hiding. Bipolar RF and HIFU are commonly considered for this presentation. Heavier skin redundancy may sit closer to a surgical conversation, which we will be honest about at consultation.
Who is not a candidate?
Pregnancy and breastfeeding, pacemakers and other implanted electrical devices, metal implants in the area, active infection or cold sores in the treatment zone, keloid tendency, active isotretinoin use, and significant bleeding disorders. Recent injectables in the lower face also require a wait period. Suitability is always assessed in consultation.
Is there much downtime?
Most lower-face energy and biostimulation treatments are well tolerated with minimal downtime reported. Mild redness, tenderness or swelling can occur and typically settles within a day or two. Your clinician will go through what to expect for the specific device recommended.
