Client background and why MiniFX
The client came to the Sunnybank clinic asking about a non-invasive option for mild submental fullness and early softening along the jawline. No downtime. Something she could fit around a working week. A series-based course made sense to her, with the response building gradually rather than arriving in one hit. At consultation her Registered Nurse assessed the concern as sitting within the mild range, and confirmed MiniFX was appropriate for this small-area focus. More pronounced laxity or deeper fat concerns sit outside the scope of this device, and would be referred on for a different clinical opinion.
MiniFX is the small handpiece in InMode’s bipolar radiofrequency range. It is built for smaller zones like the submental area, jawline, chin and neck, where the larger Forma handpiece is less ideal. The device pairs bipolar RF with low-level negative-pressure suction, which improves electrode contact across a curved zone like the under-chin. It is designed to stimulate collagen production in the dermis, and skin firmness builds as new collagen matures across the following 3 to 6 months. MiniFX helps improve the appearance of mild small-area laxity and skin quality, and is not a substitute for surgical intervention where indicated.
Protocol
Treatment was delivered across the submental area, along the jawline, and onto the anterior neck. The suction chamber was moved in slow, overlapping passes while the A.C.E. temperature control kept the skin surface inside the 40 to 43 degrees Celsius therapeutic window. No topical anaesthetic was required. Each session ran 30 to 45 minutes. The client returned to normal activities the same day, with only transient warmth, pinkness, and faint vacuum-pattern marks that settled within a few hours.
Phase-by-phase journey
At Week 0, the treated zones showed the expected mild warmth and diffuse pinkness, which resolved within a few hours. Through the first two sessions the client reported a subjectively firmer feel on palpation along the chin, without any photographic change at that point. That is typical early on. The thermal cue to fibroblasts happens well before any measurable surface shift. By the mid-course point, early visible softening along the submental-to-jawline transition was noted at clinical review, and the client reported her skin felt more resilient under daily topicals. At the Week N frame after the final session in the initial course, comparison with baseline showed a cleaner chin-to-neck line, a reduction in the shadow under the jaw, and generally improved skin quality across the small area treated. Collagen remodelling continues to build for 3 to 6 months following the final session. The client was booked for a collagen-response review inside that window. Individual results vary.

Maintenance
Bipolar RF works best with ongoing maintenance. The client was advised that the response from the initial course is typically held with maintenance sessions every 1 to 3 months, adjusted to her response at clinical review. Day to day, the basics still matter. Daily broad-spectrum SPF 50+, a well-tolerated topical routine, and adequate sleep and hydration were reinforced as the background habits that help new collagen settle well.
What this means for others
This describes one client in the mild submental and early jawline range, with otherwise good baseline skin quality. It does not predict any other client’s response. A few things to think about if you are considering MiniFX for yourself. It is a series of sessions, not a single event. It takes 3 to 6 months to see full effect as new collagen matures. And it is not a substitute for surgical intervention where indicated. Suitability is determined at clinical consultation at Flourish Skin and Laser Clinic, Sunnybank.
