Enlarged Pores

Pores don’t close. Their appearance can be refined. We identify why yours look the way they do, then map the treatments designed to soften the look over time.

What We Can Help

Oil-Driven Pores

Prominent on the nose and cheeks, with shine and recurrent blackheads.

Age & Sun-Related Pores

Cheek pores that look elongated as dermal collagen thins.

Congestion-Driven Pores

Openings packed with dead cells and oxidised sebum, reading larger.

The Honest Approach to Pore Refinement

Pores are anatomical openings, so no treatment closes them. Pore appearance is a combination concern, and a combination plan is almost always the right answer. Our Registered Nurses identify the drivers in play (sebum, congestion, collagen loss), then sequence the treatments designed to refine the look over a realistic timeline.

Why Our Pore Refinement Results Are Different

Driver-Led Plans

Oil, congestion and collagen loss respond to different tools. We map your specific drivers at consultation, not in a sales pitch.

Combination Approach

Most plans pair a dermal-remodelling device with maintenance peels or Hydrafacial. One treatment alone rarely shifts every driver.

Honest Expectations

Expect a refinement, not a rewrite. Pores still exist; the appearance reads softer. We tell you upfront where your starting point sets the ceiling.

FAQ

  • Can pores be closed or shrunk?

No. Pores are anatomical openings, and their size is set by genetics, sebum production and the firmness of the surrounding collagen. In-clinic treatments are designed to refine the appearance of pores, not eliminate them. A clinic that promises otherwise is overstating what skin biology allows.

  • Which treatment is right for oily versus age-related pores?

Oil-driven and congestion-driven pores often respond best to a rhythm of Hydrafacial and peels. Age-related and sun-related pore appearance responds better to dermal-remodelling treatments such as RF microneedling, skin needling or fractional resurfacing. Most plans combine both.

  • How many sessions will I need, and how are they spaced?

Usually three to six. RF microneedling and skin needling are spaced four to six weeks apart; fractional resurfacing six to twelve weeks apart; Hydrafacial and peels on a four-to-six-week rhythm. Your clinician will set a realistic schedule at consultation.

  • Will these treatments work on my skin tone?

RF microneedling and mechanical skin needling are often considered across Fitzpatrick I to VI because their energy does not target melanin. Fitzpatrick IV to VI skin carries an elevated risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation with any resurfacing treatment, so settings are adjusted and photoprotection matters. Suitability is assessed at consultation.

  • Can I treat pore appearance if I still get breakouts?

Occasional breakouts do not rule treatment out, but active inflammatory acne usually does. If breakouts are still frequent, your clinician will often stabilise the skin first with peels and skincare support before starting dermal-remodelling work.

  • What should I do at home to support the results?

Daily broad-spectrum SPF 50+ is non-negotiable. A nightly retinoid (when tolerated and when advised by your clinician), a niacinamide serum and a gentle cleanser support the in-clinic work. Stay on these even once a treatment course begins.

  • How long does the refined appearance last?

Pore appearance is maintained, not fixed. A typical pattern is an initial course followed by maintenance every six to twelve months. New collagen continues to remodel for up to twelve months after your final device session. Individual results vary.

  • When should I move from at-home care to in-clinic treatment?

Topicals have a genuine role and are worth staying on. If you have been diligent for six months and pore appearance has not shifted, you have reached the limit of what skincare alone can do. That is the threshold where in-clinic treatments are worth considering.
