Neck & Décolletage Ageing

The face is holding up, but the neck is telling a different story. We map considered, non-surgical options to the specific changes in your neck and chest.

What We Can Help

Crepey Skin & Fine Lines

Thinning, parallel lines on the lower neck and upper chest.

Horizontal Neck Lines

Deeper “necklace lines” that remain visible at rest

Sun Damage & Pigmentation

Sunspots, uneven tone, redness and small vessels on the décolletage.

Early Laxity

Softening definition under the jaw and along the upper neck.

The Considered Approach to Neck & Chest

Neck and chest skin is thinner than the face, with fewer oil glands and slower healing. Our Registered Nurses lean conservative and staged, using lower energy settings across more sessions, treating tone and texture alongside firming, and setting honest limits on what non-surgical work can achieve over a 3 to 6 month collagen timeline.

Why Our Neck & Décolletage Results Are Different

Conservative By Design

Lower energy, shallower depths and shorter pulses than facial protocols. Gentle staged work outperforms a single aggressive session on thinner skin.

Tone, Texture & Laxity

Sun damage and redness often drive more of the look than laxity. We address pigmentation and vascular concerns in parallel, not after.

Honest Surgical Limits

Pronounced banding or significant skin redundancy is surgical territory. If your picture sits there, we will say so at consultation

FAQ

  • Why does the neck and chest age faster than the face?

Neck and décolletage skin is structurally thinner than facial skin, with less collagen scaffolding and fewer oil glands. That means a more fragile barrier and a tendency toward crepey texture. In Brisbane’s subtropical UV, the chest and neck also cop daily incidental sun that the face is usually protected from, and most people invest in facial skincare for years before thinking about the neck.

  • Can I fix this with skincare alone?

Daily broad-spectrum SPF 50+ on the neck and chest is the single most useful habit for slowing visible change. Topical products cannot reach the deeper dermal layers where structural change happens, so skincare and in-clinic treatments are designed to complement each other, not replace each other.

  • Are any of these treatments a neck lift?

No. We do not describe them that way. Energy devices and biostimulation are designed to stimulate collagen and support the appearance of the neck and chest as new collagen forms over 3 to 6 months. They are not a substitute for surgical intervention. Pronounced platysmal banding, heavy skin redundancy and significant “turkey neck” presentations sit in surgical territory.

  • Why is the neck treated more conservatively than the face?

Neck and chest skin is thinner, has fewer sebaceous glands, and heals more slowly. Brisbane sun exposure makes it more fragile again. Conservative energy settings, shallower depths and staged sessions reduce the risk of adverse reactions while still supporting collagen response

  • How long before I see a visible difference?

Pigmentation often improves across a laser course in a few weeks. Firming and texture changes take 3 to 6 months as new collagen forms, with peak response around three months. Any tightening you notice in the first days is mild collagen contraction, not a final outcome. Individual results vary.

  • Can I combine treatments for the neck and chest?

Yes. Most plans combine a firming mechanism (HIFU, monopolar or bipolar RF, or RF microneedling) with skin-quality work (skin boosters, peels) and pigment or vascular work where those concerns are present. Spacing is set at consultation based on your skin and your timeline.

  • Which device is right for my neck?

Selection depends on the changes present, your skin type, and your location. HIFU and Thermage are often considered for deeper structural firming. Bipolar RF and RF microneedling are often considered for crepey texture and early laxity. Pico laser and vascular IPL address pigmentation and redness on the décolletage. Your clinician maps the right combination at consultation.

  • Are there reasons I might not be a candidate?

Yes. Pregnancy and breastfeeding, pacemakers and other implanted electrical devices, metal implants in the area, active infection or herpes simplex, keloid tendency, and active isotretinoin use are common contraindications. Pronounced banding or significant skin redundancy is best discussed with a surgeon. Suitability is always assessed in consultation.

  • How many sessions will I need?

It depends on the device and the goal. HIFU and Thermage are typically a single session with periodic boosters. RF microneedling and skin boosters are typically a course of three sessions. Pigmentation and vascular work usually run as a short course of three to six sessions. Your clinician will set a realistic plan upfront.

  • What does a consultation involve?

A Registered Nurse will assess your neck and chest in good light, identify the specific mix of changes present, talk through what is realistic (and what is not) for non-surgical work, and walk you through device options with published pricing. There is no pressure to proceed.
