RF MICRONEEDLING: SKIN TEXTURE, FIRMED FROM WITHIN

A medical-grade treatment designed to support your skin's natural collagen — softening texture, refining pores, and helping firm the skin over time.

A QUIETER WAY TO REBUILD SKIN

You catch your reflection in a work photo or a shop window and the skin looks a little flatter than it feels. Not a line to fix, not a crease to fill — just softness where there used to be structure. RF microneedling works at that layer. It's designed to support your skin's own collagen rather than add volume to it.
At Flourish Skin and Laser Clinic, we use two RF microneedling devices across our two locations — Morpheus 8 at Sunnybank and Quadessy RF Needling at Toowong. Both are RF microneedling. Each has strengths. Your consultation is where we match the right one to your skin.

HOW IT WORKS: COLLAGEN, STIMULATED FROM WITHIN

RF microneedling combines two mechanisms in one handpiece. Tiny needles pass into the skin to a preset depth. Controlled radiofrequency heat is then delivered through the needles into the deeper skin layers.

Bipolar RF, Plain English

The device uses fractional bipolar RF — a short current that travels between two nearby electrodes on the needle tip. It warms the dermis without passing through the rest of the body, and leaves the surface largely intact.

Why That Matters

Warming the deeper skin is designed to signal your body’s own fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin. Changes build gradually — over the weeks and months after treatment, not in the days right after.

WHY CHOOSE RF MICRONEEDLING AT FLOURISH

We prefer treatments that support how skin is built, not treatments that mask how it looks. RF microneedling fits that approach. Because the change comes from your own collagen building over time, the result tends to look like healthy skin rather than “something done.” Individual results vary, and your clinician will set realistic expectations in your consultation.

We run a full medical-grade device stack across Sunnybank and Toowong, which means RF microneedling can be considered alongside — or sequenced with — other options where appropriate. Pricing for both devices is published below. Your treatment is performed by our Registered Nurses.

FAQ

  • Is RF microneedling safe, and who is it for?

RF microneedling uses TGA-included devices and is commonly offered in Australian cosmetic clinics (Quadessy ARTG 500185; Morpheus 8 is supplied in Australia under the sponsor’s ARTG listing 331820 — InMode ARTG sponsor entry). It’s generally suitable for adults concerned with skin texture, mild laxity or atrophic acne scarring. It’s not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active infection or active acne in the area, a history of keloid scarring, a pacemaker, recent isotretinoin (Roaccutane), or certain photosensitising medications. Your clinician assesses suitability in your free consultation.

  • Does it hurt? What about numbing?

A topical numbing cream is applied 30–45 minutes before treatment, which makes the session tolerable for most people. Expect a warm, prickling sensation during the pass, and the skin feels hot for a short time afterwards. We don’t describe the treatment as painless — it isn’t — but it is manageable, and your clinician adjusts the experience to your tolerance.

  • What's the downtime?

Redness, mild swelling, a grid pattern and pinpoint bleeding are common in the first 24–72 hours. Most clients are comfortable returning to work the same day or the next, often with mineral makeup from 24 hours. Deeper treatments can take up to a week to settle. Daily SPF 50+ is non-negotiable for at least two weeks.

  • How many sessions will I need?

A typical course is three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. More complex concerns — deeper acne scarring, for example — may need up to six. Collagen develops over the weeks and months that follow, so final outcomes are usually assessed one to three months after your last session. Individual results vary.

  • Quadessy or Morpheus 8 — which is right for me?

The short answer is location: Morpheus 8 is used at our Sunnybank clinic, and Quadessy RF Needling is used at our Toowong clinic. Both are TGA-registered fractional bipolar RF microneedling platforms. Morpheus 8 offers greater needle depth and is often chosen when the focus is on deeper concerns such as pronounced acne scarring or jaw and neck laxity. Quadessy uses a hybrid preheat step and is often chosen for general skin rejuvenation and texture, and for patients preferring a shorter, lower-intensity session. Risks and sensations are discussed at consultation. Neither is “better” — they’re designed to suit different goals, skin types and preferences. Your clinician matches the device to your skin in consultation.

  • Is it suitable for darker skin types?

RF microneedling may be suitable across Fitzpatrick I–VI because RF energy does not target melanin the way many lasers do. Fitzpatrick IV–VI skin carries an elevated risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH); lower-energy settings are used to manage this risk, alongside thorough photoprotection before and after. Individual suitability is assessed at consultation.

  • Who performs the treatment?

RF microneedling at Flourish is performed by our Registered Nurses. Your clinician will cover the consent process, the risks and the aftercare at your consultation.
